Oscar came to us along with his best friend Trooper after being seized by animal control. Fortunately, we were able to purchase him at auction to make sure that he didn’t end up in the wrong hands ever again! Considering he came from a neglect case… he initially had some distrust and fear around humans but fortunately it only took a couple of weeks for him to fully trust again. Oscar has clearly had a lot of training and been ridden previously. He knows his job and he understands the groundwork in the round pen! This boy loves scratches and to be patted. He will be the first to the gate to make sure that he gets pole position to be loved on! He enjoys hanging out in his huge 5 acre pasture with his best friend Trooper. He has been undergoing consistent refresher training with our trainer and picks things up very quickly. He is easily haltered and well-mannered on lead rope!
He is doing well with the saddle on but has not yet been ridden. We do believe he’s been a former riding horse and will have no issues whatsoever. Stay tuned for more updates on how he does under saddle.
Recommended Rider: Oscar obviously has a lot of experience, but currently would be better for an intermediate to advanced Rider until he receives more training under saddle.
Adoption Requirements: Currently recommended for a more experienced rider.
We hope that Oscar is able to be adopted with his best buddy Trooper (a 15 yr old red buckskin who is also currently undergoing training). This is not required but preferred given Horses are often trauma over trauma. Bonded, which is the case with these two, so we would ideally like to keep them together.
Ailments/Limitations: NONE, he does have scarring on his front left from a possible old injury but it does not seem to be limiting him at all. We believe this trauma to his front was the reason why he was acting up for the Farrier. He has recently learned to stand still for the Farrier and is doing much better.
Oscar has no known medical issues or limitations and is up to date on all veterinary, dental, and farrier work. With continued training and proper care, he will make a wonderful addition to a loving forever home.
Oscar is now available for adoption to the right forever home.
