Reno is a gentle soul with a heart of gold, ready to spend her golden years surrounded by love.
She is a beautiful paint mare with a calm and kind soul. She’s the definition of grace and resilience — a true sweetheart who has clearly spent her life taking care of others and now deserves to be cared for in return.
When Reno first arrived at Believe Ranch & Rescue, she was in pain from untreated laminitis. Thanks to the incredible work of our farrier, she now wears special padded corrective shoes that keep her comfortable and happy. She stands quietly for the farrier and vet, has excellent teeth, and is very easy to catch — her sweet, trusting nature shines through in everything she does.
We believe Reno spent much of her life as a children’s riding horse at a YMCA dude ranch alongside her best friends Cheeto and Groot. Her body tells the story of years of service and love — she moves a bit stiffly and shows signs of arthritis, but her spirit remains bright. Reno is happiest spending her days in a peaceful pasture, enjoying gentle affection and companionship.
Recommended Rider: Reno is best suited for very light children’s riding only, ideally a rider under 100 pounds, for short walking sessions no longer than 15–20 minutes. She should not be used for trail riding or any rigorous activity due to her arthritis and history of laminitis. She would also thrive as a companion or therapy horse, where her calm presence and loving personality can shine without physical strain.
Adoption Requirements: Reno must be adopted into a forever, loving home where she will continue to receive the care and affection she deserves.
She is trauma bonded to her best friends Cheeto and Groot, and they are inseparable. Therefore, Reno must be adopted together with Cheeto and Groot to ensure their continued happiness and well-being.
Ailments/Limitations:
• Requires daily Equioxx (anti-inflammatory medication) to support joint comfort and mobility.
• Must remain on special padded corrective shoes long-term to prevent laminitis pain.
• Light arthritis present; retirement or semi-retirement home strongly preferred.
