Spartacus is a stunning horse with an unfortunate history. This gentle gent was dumped at auction after suffering from insufficient feeding and a badly cracked hoof. He looked to have seen a number of hard, lean years that took their toll, making this handsome guy look older than his age. But despite the hardships he clearly faced, Spartacus hasn’t swayed from the sweet, friendly, and peaceful nature that comes naturally to him. And his wonderful personality is only matched by the dream that he is under saddle! Our trainer has nothing but great things to say about this eager-to-please boy. He neck reins, direct reins, and is a steady and reliable guy who can be described as more of an easy summer breeze than a hurricane. He is a solid trail horse and stands reliably for hoof picking, grooming, and tacking without being tied. Spartacus would make a great lesson or kids’ horse and, though he isn’t suited for jumping or high-impact work, could be used for just about anything. He has good conformation, good sized feet, and a beautiful walk, trot, and canter. He is absolutely a fairytale horse and we can’t wait for him to find his happily ever after!
Spartacus is enjoying outdoor living with a shed and a happy little mixed herd of rescues. He is a dominant gelding but doesn’t have much fight; he’s more of a gentle giant who has more bark than bite. He has been enjoying being barefoot and his previously damaged hoof is just about back to normal.
Spartacus is up-to-date on vaccines, worming, teeth float, farrier, and vetting.
Recommended Rider: Suitable for all levels of riders, including kids. Spartacus is a big boy and, when he reaches his goal weight, he will be suitable for riders up to 300 lbs.
Adoption Requirements: Spartacus’ best buddy is a handsome limited riding gelding named Lucky. Because of their bond, they need to be adopted together.
Ailments/Limitations: Spartacus came into rescue extremely emaciated and with a cracked front right hoof. With the diligent care of our team, his hoof is almost completely healed and he has been gaining weight consistently. He still is a bit underweight, though, and will need to gain a bit more to fill out his big, sporty frame.
