Groot is a striking, kind-hearted Paint gelding with a gentle, easygoing nature that instantly wins hearts. Believed to be kid-broke and formerly a dude ranch trail horse, Groot has spent his life taking care of his riders with patience and quiet confidence.
At around 15 years old, Groot has earned his rest from hard work but still enjoys having a light job to do. He’s a sweet, gentle soul, easy to catch in the pasture, and stands beautifully for the vet, farrier, and dental work. The only time he’s shown a bit of sensitivity was during a sheath cleaning—something most geldings would rather skip! Otherwise, Groot is the definition of steady, willing, and kind.
Groot lunges beautifully, responds well to groundwork, and clearly takes pride in doing his job. He’s sound, shows no signs of lameness, and is thriving in his time at Believe Ranch & Rescue.
Recommended Rider: Groot would be a wonderful partner for a confident beginner or intermediate rider looking for a light riding companion. His background as a trusted kid’s horse makes him an ideal match for someone who wants a calm, experienced horse to enjoy gentle rides, groundwork, or simply companionship.
While Groot is currently sound, we recommend that he be used for light trail riding and light work due to his many years of service as a dude ranch horse. He enjoys having a purpose and thrives with kind, consistent handling.
Adoption Requirements: Groot came to Believe Ranch & Rescue with two other horses from the same dude ranch, Snowcone and Crouton. However, since arriving, he has developed a close bond with his paint mare friend Reno and gelding friend Cheeto.
Because of this strong friendship, we would prefer that Groot be adopted together with Cheeto and Reno, if possible, as they have become deeply connected and provide each other comfort and stability.
Ailments/Limitations: At this time, Groot is sound, comfortable, and moving beautifully. He shows no signs of lameness or discomfort, enjoys light exercise, and continues to improve with consistent care and love.
Groot has no known medical issues or limitations and is up to date on all veterinary, dental, and farrier work. With continued light use and proper care, he will make a wonderful addition to a loving forever home.
